POWDER HAVEN RESIDENCE

The homes at Powder Haven are situated at the top of the ski area, a dramatic setting that presents tough challenges and amazing opportunities. The winter weather can be harsh, but the views, (and of course the skiing,) are phenomenal.
Designed to be a jewel on a small corner lot, the floor plan has subtly divergent grids that open to the views. RKD’s goal was to find a balance of cozy shelter and warm contemporary interiors that fully engage with the ski area and landscape beyond.
The custom stair is a central element of the home. It features an interlocking steel structure with integrated lighting.
The solution involves embracing the rural character of the landscape; using clean details; exposed structure and warm materials.
The Living, Dining and Kitchen areas are distinct spaces, but they are open to each other. Together they create a social space that is large enough to handle large gatherings but intimate enough to feel cozy.
The entertainment areas on the lower level feature a home cinema and a custom wine display rack
