BUFFEHR CREEK
VAIL, COLORADO
Large roof overhangs allow for sunlight in the winter, but shield the rooms from direct sun in the summer months.
On the interior, 6” thick concrete stair treads cantilever from a curved stone wall leading from the entry to the open great room. A bridge back over the entry leads to the private master suite.

Details
Located on a very steep site in Vail, this residence was designed for a couple with preferences for clean, simple lines achieved through natural materials. Contributing to the sleek, contemporary look is the horizontal pattern in the exterior zinc siding which aligns with the window mullion patterns around the entire house. This strong pattern weaves in and out of large fields of sandstone.
